Fred L. Clark, a long time resident of South Padre Island, TX, died on January 31st, 2020 at the Golden Palms in Harlingen, Texas. He was 96 years old.
He was born on 10-08-1923 in Wichita, Kansas, the only child of Clyde and Bea Clark. They later moved to Macksville, Kansas where Fred grew up and his father was a barber. After graduating high school and attending Hutchinson Jr College, he enlisted in the Army Air Core, and was a fighter pilot during World War 2. Following the War he married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Holland, and they recently celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary. Fred and Barbara owned Clark Flying Service and the local airport in Macksville, Kansas, and he was a crop duster. Fred was a member of the Methodist Church, Free Masonry and Eastern Star, National Arial Applicators Association, the American Legion and VFW, and the Quiet Birdman Association.
Fred is survived by his wife, Barbara Clark, son Jim Clark, daughter Barbara Jo Clark Heinold, six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
A Memorial gathering is planed for Saturday, 02-08-2020 at 1:00 pm, at Harleys, 38960 Schafer Road, Los Fresnos, Texas, 78566, phone number 956-233-4600. Services presented by the VFW with Military Honors. A second Memorial gathering will be held in Macksville, Kansas at a later date in May, 2020.
